A feature Story #2
For the past few weeks we have been working on another feature story. For this feature story we had to go out and interview two people. My feature story was on a shelter called Unleashed Pet Rescue, this shelter is a no kill animal shelter. I decided to do my feature story on Unleashed because that's where i rescued my dog.
For this project we had to first of all start by writing questions that we were going to ask our interviewees. Then we had to make a production schedule for the next two weeks along with research on our topic.
After we got all of our information and questions together it was time to film. I went to Unleashed a interview a volunteer there. The interview was vey eye opening for me, Meghan the volunteer i interviewed told some of her stories while volunteering and also opened my eye to how volunteering saves so many animals lives. This was a very nerve racking thing for me to do but in the end it was a really good experience. While i was there i also got b-roll of lots of the cats and dogs they had up for adoption at the shelter. For me this video was very fun to film because animals are something i am very passionate about.
Once i collected all the footage i had to start editing. For this i put all my clips in Premiere and cut them to the clips i wanted to use. Then i had to start making my script. For me this was pretty challenging. We had to put our scripts into a template that went shot by shot and what you said.
After i finished my voice over i then had to put it all together. I first laid down my voice over then started putting my edited b-roll clips in. I also had to have background noise and turn the audio levels of the background noise down so it doesn't over power the voice over. I also had to add J and L cuts to the interviews so the sound would start before the actual clip of them speaking would come on to the screen.
If i could do this video again i would find a better space to interview the volunteer and put a mic on who i'm interviewing. I would also try to get more b-roll of the volunteers interacting with people and the animals.
Overall this was a very fun and eyeopening video for me to make! I hope you enjoyed watching it!
